Our words matter as much as our actions. When we can put the two together, we can be a powerful witness of love and hope to those who have been marginalized. How we care for LGBTQI-S youth and their families goes beyond being “Open and Affirming”  as we become the beloved community of Christ.

Who should attend?

Adult leaders who work with "transitional ages" (Youth and Young Adults), or anyone who wants to better understand the complexity of gender identity and expression.

What will be covered?

Sexual identity, gender identity, gender expression and other factors that make up the beautifully complicated person each of us was born to be. We will also look at societal issues and mental health concerns that disproportionately impact the  LGBTQI2-S community. 

How much does this cost?

Training is free! You will receive a certificate of completion and 6 CEUs while not spend anything but your time.

Summer Gomez of the Penny Lane Center is our facilitator. Rev. Lee Yates from Faith Shaping and Covina Community Church, is in charge of logistics and communication. You can find their contact info in the side-bar.

Who is sponsoring this event?

Penny Lane Center is a leader in LGBTQI2-S care and contracted by the LA County Department of Mental Health to provide training to the community. They are facilitating the event with support from the Southern California Nevada Conference of the United Church of Christ, the Pacific Southwest Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), and Faith Shaping.
